Chapelry History
Brothertoft was a township and chapel of ease to the parish of Kirton, until 1922 when the church of St Gilbert of Sempringham was dedicated and it was created a civil parish in its own right. Today it forms part of the civil parish of Holland Fen with Brothertoft. The original chapel was pulled down prior to 1847 when the new church was built at the sole expense of the owner of Brothertoft Hall, Thomas Gee Esq. He also paid for the addition of a chancel in 1854, and for a school, attached to the lodge house to his Hall, in 1856 which is now the Parish Hall.
BROTHERTOFT, a chapelry, in the parish and wapentake of Kirton, union of Boston, parts of Holland, county of Lincoln, 4 miles (W. N. W.) from Boston.[1]
