ASKRIGG, a market-town and chapelry (St Oswald), created in 1739, in the parish of Aysgarth, wapentake of Hang-West, North Riding, Yorkshire. Other places in the parish include: Countersett, Nappa, Wraxhall, Woodhall, and Newbigging. There is a place of worship for Wesleyans.
