Hugo Edgardo De GiorgioHugo Edgardo De Giorgio, Argentinean, born in Helvecia in Santa Fe on 21 October 1967, attended primary and secondary school in the same town.
He completed his university studies as an analyst in applied computer science in Argentina.
After an important work experience in the city of Santa Fe, he emigrated to Italy in 1998. Since then, he has been living in Milan. There he works in one of the largest European companies in the field of banking services. He also lived and worked from 2006 to 2008 in London and in 2013 in Budapest, where he held management positions in the banking sector.
For almost forty years he has been researching and documenting his own family history and its origins in Europe. He is currently a member of the "Associazione Genealogica del Friuli-Venezia Giulia" in Italy, the "Association valaisanne d'études généalogiques" in Switzerland and the "Centre Généalogique de Savoie" in France.
In 2009, he decided to create the Facebook group "Helvecia, its history and its people", with the aim of recovering, enhancing and preserving the history of the Colony of Helvecia and of the first immigrant families who settled there. As part of the objectives of this group, in 2015, together with the history teacher Stella Berli, he published the book Historia de la sociedad italiana de Unione y Benevolenza (History of the Italian society of Unione and Benevolenza).
In 2023 he published his first book Beyond the Ocean, a research documenting more than 300 years of family history including the genealogy of all his Italian, Swiss and French great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents, all of them immigrants, who, in the 2nd half of the 19th century, arrived and settled in the first agricultural colonies of the province of Santa Fe in the Argentine Republic. The book, printed in Argentina and Italy, was presented at a simultaneous international event in the 4 countries studied.
