LORETTA WESTCOTT, 88 ROCKFORD - Loretta Westcott, 88, of Rockford died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, in her home surrounded by her family. Born Dec. 27, 1919, in Walnut, the daughter of Albert and Ruth (Riggs) Heidenreich. Moved to Rockford in 1940. Married Earl Westcott in 1962. Because of her parent's divorce, she grew up in an orphanage in Princeton, from the age of 18 months to 12 years old. Her father brought her home when he remarried and she was a housekeeping maid and nanny. She always met the hardships of life head on, and through hard work and perseverance made a better life for herself and her family. She retired in 1982, after working 29 years at Atwoods. Her door was always open to family and friends to come for a meal or to stay a few months if needed. Her passion was cleaning her house. She enjoyed word puzzles, reading, playing cards and mostly visiting with family. Survivors include daughters, Robin Elsworth of Friendship, Wis., Lorna Taft of Janesville, Wis., Cheryl (Joe) Kendall of Rockford; son, Cletus Delhotal of Rock Falls; stepsons, James (Kay) Westcott of Arlington Heights, Ron Westcott and Ken (Diane) Westcott of Rockford; stepdaughter, Sally (James) Dodge of Wheatland, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grand-children; and eight great-great-grandchildren; brother, Art Heidenreich of Walnut; sisters, Bernadene Lee of Peoria and Ada Hahn of Roselle. Predeceased by parents; husband, Earl Westcott; brothers, Chris Hendricks of Dallas, Robert Fox of Rock Island, Willis Heidenreich of Walnut, Roland Nass of Kewanee; and sister, Delcie Burger of Kewanee. Service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 1 p.m. to time of service. Memorials to VNA Hospice, 4223 E. State St., Rockford, IL 61108.
