Reem Awad-Rashmawi, JD

Reem Awad-Rashmawi, JD is a Palestinian American immigration attorney, professional genealogist, and community historian specializing in US genealogical documentation and DNA research; oral history interviews; adoptees and unknown parentage; dual citizenship; and Arab, Arab American and Middle Eastern/SWANA region genealogy research. She lectures at societies and conferences nationwide. Reem is also the founder of NSAB – the National Society for Arab and Arab American Genealogy. She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, National Genealogy Society, Oral History Association, and several regional, state, and local genealogy organizations. Reem has researched her own family for over 3 decades, and has broad experience finding family in Ottoman records, national and international repositories and online resources. She graduated with dual bachelor's degrees in international relations and sociology, with an emphasis in law, from the University of California, Davis. Her law degree focused on international law and immigration. Her genealogical and oral history education includes programs at Boston University, UC Berkeley Center for Oral History, Salt Lake Insitute of Genealogy, Institute of Genealogical and Historical research, Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburg and Pro Gen.
