Bettendorf - Lucienne M. Kerwin, 78, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away on April 14, 2012, after a brief illness. Originally from France, many people knew Lucienne for her beautiful French accent. She married Edward Kerwin while in France, and had lived in Bettendorf since 1967. For many years, she was an avid and competitive tennis player at the Bettendorf Tennis Club, and was USTA-ranked. She held a variety of jobs over the years, including Unit Secretary at St. Luke's Hospital, Tax Preparer with H&R Block, and Accountant at Mississippi Valley Airlines. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward and is survived by her sons, Phillip Kerwin of Arizona, Alex Bailly of France, and Patrick Kerwin of California; daughter, Kathryn Kerwin-Ryberg (Nick) of Minnesota; her grandchildren, Alex and Delaney Ryberg; her sister, Andree of France; and her brothers, Claude Baumgartner and Jean Baumgartner, both in France. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 21, 2012, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097 18th St., Bettendorf. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the church. Additional visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 23, at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should meet at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
