courtesy of Fisch Funeral Home: Theresita “Therry” Weiler, 94 years old, of Remsen, IA, died Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, IA. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, with Rev. William McCarthy officiating and Deacon Rick Roder assisting. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation will be anytime after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2015. There will be a parish rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Therry was born on Nov. 21, 1920, at Farley, IA, the daughter of John P. & Anna (Ruden) Theisen. She attended St. Joseph School (now Gehlen Catholic) of Le Mars, then moved to Remsen with her parents in 1938. She married Gilbert F. Weiler at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, on December 27, 1942. Worked at Acme Dry Cleaning plant until her husband was sent oversees, then worked at the battery factory at Dubuque, Iowa, and later at the Frank Pilley Cream Station in Le Mars until her husband returned home from the service in November 1945. They farmed south of Remsen until 1960 and then bought a farm south of Oyens, where she stayed home and raised her 11 children. They moved to Remsen in 1977 due to Gib’s ill health. After her husband passed away, she worked for Jerry & Angie’s Café and L&J’s Drive Inn as a salad maker for 10 years and later at Nelson Catering until she was 80 years old. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Remsen, Christian Mothers Society, and the Mission Society. She loved playing cards every week with the Arens girls and Lois Loutsch. She also loved gardening, cooking, baking, and working with her many red geraniums around her house. She loved being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her six daughters, Marlys Weiler of Le Mars, Maureen Camerer of Dakota Dunes, SD, Marilynn (Joe) Vollmecke of Struble, IA, Marsha (Martin) Pasker of Sioux City, IA, Michelle (Steve) Bleil of Kingsley, IA, and Maryellen Schipper of Alton, IA, and special friend, Chuck McClary, five sons, Gilbert A. (Audrey) Weiler, Jerry (Gwen) Weiler, Dale Weiler, and Loran (Doris) Weiler ,all of Le Mars, and Dan (Brenda) Weiler of Lee’s Summit, MO; 28 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cyril (Helen) Theisen, of Remsen and Ivan (Yvonne) of Marcus, IA; sisters, Sally (Richard) Henke of Cherokee, IA, and Rita McCarty of Spencer, IA; sisters-in-law, Joan Cronin of Marcus, IA, and Rita Theisen of Canby, MN; and brother-in-law, Carel Conner of Remsen. Preceded by her parents; husband, Gilbert Weiler; grandsons, JJ Vollmecke and Brent Weiler; great-grandchildren, Travis James Weiler and Caleb Joseph Weiler; brothers, Elmer and Reynold Theisen; sisters, Shirley (Al) Gengler and Lois Theisen; and in-laws, Dave McCarty, Rosella (Ralph) Mueller, Valeria (Dominic) Schroeder, Verna (Floyd) Harvey, Marvin (Octavia) Weiler, and Donna Conner. Casket bearers will be Chad Vollmecke, Jeremy Bleil, Cory Weiler, Eric Weiler, Coby Camerer, and Nick Weiler. Honorary bearers will be Loran John Weiler, Jr., Jesse Weiler, and Kyle Schipper.
