Levin Collins Levin Collins was born in 1757 and is believed to be the son of Samuel Collins and Elizabeth. On 2 April 1773 Leven Collins received 100 acres on Three Run Creek in Granville County, North Carolina as part of the Royal land grants and head rights. The allowed amount was 100 acres for single man. Levin Collins is listed in the Land Tax Memorial Returns Index. Levin married Catharine Tamar Odom some time around 1775. Levin Collins is listed in the South Carolina Revolutionary Index. Levin is listed twice in the Land Grants after the Revolution in the South Carolina Index II. He receives 162 acres on White Point in Orangeburg District on 4 Sep 1786 and 150 acres on Edisto River, Orangeburg District on 5 Dec 1785. Moses Odom was born. The will is proven on 9 Jan 1790 Leven Collins signs as a witness to the will along with Daniel Odom and Benjamin Odom. In 1790 Leven Collins is living in Orangeburg, South Carolina. In the household are 1 male over 16, 5 males under 16 and 5 females. Living next door is Benjamin Odom, Uriah Odom and Mary Collins. Mary Whinright was born 6 June 1794. Mary married Anthony Robinson Cheatham on 24 November 1812. She died 21 June 1840 in Clark, Georgia.   Levin Collins is listed in the Georgia Tax Index for Richmond County, Lyon District in 1795, on page 27. On 29 December 1801 Levin Collins is listed on a plat for Thomas Jones and John Leteer for 320 acres on South Edisto River, Barnwell District surveyed by Robert Brown. Series Number S213192 Volume 0038 Page 00546 Item 02  The division of the estate of Benjamin Odom, deceased, power of attorney signed 6 Feb 1804 lists Levin Collins residing in the state of Georgia, to have one share in the right of his wife, Catherine Collins, nee Odom* A Leven and a Samuel Collins were both listed as participants of the 1805 Georgia Land Lottery. Levin died on 25 August 1806 in Richmond, Georgia. Catharine Tamar Odom Catharine was born about 1760. She is the daughter of Benjamin Odom and Tamar. Catherine is named in her father’s estate settlement dated 6 February 1804. Catherine is named in her mother’s will dated 21 May 1808. It is not known when Catherine died.
