Helen K. Harris, 98, of Brookston, formerly of Lafayette died at 5:40 PM March 12, 2012 in the home of Cindi and Mike Keith with whom she made her home.
The daughter of Phillip and Magdalena Nelson Kappes, she was born February 16, 1914, in Wea Township in Tippecanoe County. She graduated from Wea High School in 1931 and later from Lafayette Business College.
On March 23,1945 in Philadelphia, she married E. Douglas Harris and he passed away in 1975. She was a life long member of St James Lutheran Church.
Helen retired in 1978 from TRW Steering Systems (Ross Gear) after being employed there for 22 years.
Surviving are brother: Phillip J. Kappes (wife Ruth) of Lafayette, 3 nieces and 7 nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday 9-11a.m. March 15, 2012 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel.
Funeral Service 11a.m. Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Pastor Michael Salemink officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park. 
Preceded in death by sisters: Eloise Burkhardt, Marion Savoldi, Dorothy Head, a brother: William Kappes.
