A little over six year after the fire, Christof Meyer, 29 yrs, was married to Maria Stadtmann, 19 yrs, on 18 Feb 1878, according to records in Chariton County Court house, Chariton County, Missouri (attached copy in gallery). May and Chris Meyer always considered 18 Feb 1877, to be their wedding day. In fact, Mary often referred to her wedding day as being St Valentie's Day, 14 Fed 1877. The couple still lived in Wien when their first child, John Herman Meyer, was born, apparently in Jun 1878. From Wien they may have moved first to Hannibal, Missouri, then to Waco, Kansas, where five of their eight children were born -- Dorothy (Dora); Louise (Lou); Frederick (Fred); Anna and Mary (May). At that time Waco was only a crossroads settlement. It consisted of a blacksmith shop, a mill and a general merchandise store, which Chris operated and which also housed the Post Office. Meanwhile, Chris' brothers married and had several children, and through the years these various Meyer families moved through the story of Chris and Mary's life. c1. HERMAN MEYER, married and had four children -- Herman, Henry, Charles and Lillie c.1. Herman married a Frevert and had four children c.1. and c.2. Boys educated at the University of California c.3. Esther, deceased c.4. Huldah, married a Niemeyer. In 1958m they lived in Santa Rosa, Calif. and had two children c.2. Henry, (nicknamed "Dry Henry") married Lizzie Hollenstein, had several children c.3. Charles, deceased c.4. Lillie Meyer, married a Leinhoff. 1958 she was still living in Missouri c.2. HENRY MEYER, married and had three children c.1. Henry c.2. Minnie Meyer married August Petersmeyer of Odelholt, Iowa. August Petersmeyer was known as the "Popcorn. King". He was the largest seler to the Cracker Jack company c.3. Frederick Meyer c.3. REV. FREDERICK WILLIAM MEYER ("Unkel") married Caroline Frevert, they had six children c.1. Henry H Meyer, D.D., deceased. It is believed he once headed the Methodist Book Publishing concern in Boston. He married Minna McEwan, who still lived, in 1958, New York City. They had two children: c.1. Harold, who married and had two children c.2. Gladys, who married a professor at Vassar c.2. Charles Clarence Meyer, taught high school in the Phillippinnes. He married Ms. Tornlinson. Both deceased. c.3. Emma Meyer, married Albert Schmutzler. They had one child. c.1. Fred Schmutzler, who changed his name to Sumner. He married a girl, whose first name was Franchon. In 1958 they lived in Sausalito. They had two children. c.1. Stanley Sumner, who died at the age of 12 yrs. c.2. Barbara Sumner, married Herbert Bundeson. Had two children. c.4. Freddie Meyer, who died at the age of 8 yrs. c.5. Minna Meyer, who died at the age of 16 yrs. Both children died in Ador Lake, Indiana, where their father as a pastor. c.6. Esther E Meyer, who was adopted to take Minna's place. She died in Oakland, Calif in 1926, age 44 yrs. Frev. Frederick William Meyer ("Unkel") married a second time. His 2nd wife was Frederika Schoup. Both are now deceased. No children c.4. DORA MEYER, married a Mr Goetz. Dora died dring the birth of her 13th child, which was reared by Dora's sister, Louise, until it was 8 yrs old, at which time Mr. Goetz married again, and the family scattered. Some of the children are: Minnie, who married Mr Stotzel; Polly; Dora who married a Mr Pearson; and Albert Goetz. c.5. LOUISE MEYER, married August Miller, in Chicago in 1866 and moved to a farm in Lowell, Indiana. Herman and Dora Meyer (Louise's parents) came to live in one of the two houses on the farm. Henry Meyer (Louise's brother) and the Herman Meyer's (2nd son) and his wife settled in Wien, Missouri. Herman and Dora Meyer then went to live with them. Herman died in Wien and Dora went to live with Louise, in Lowell, Indiana, where she died in 1899, at the age of 98. Louise and August Miller had 9 children: c.1. August Miller Jr, married Ella Oster, who aged 96 was still living in 1958. c.2 Minnie c.3 Fred c.4. Lina who married John Lindemer. This couple were aged 84 and 81, respectively in 1958. c.5 George c.6. Emma C Miller, a retired teacher. Living in Los Angeles, Calif. in 1958 c.7. Floyd Hayden, deceased. He married and hat 3 children. He and his wife lived in Azusa, Calif. c.1. Sheldon c.2. Margaret c.3. Corinne c.8. Albert, deceased c.9. Ella, married a Mr Harrington c.6.
