Elijah Arnold – b. 1685 Virginia; d. 1759 Virginia. 1. Nicholas ARNOLD – b. Abt. 1730/1734 Culpeper Co., VA; d. 1808 Bourbon Co., KY 2. Thomas ARNOLD – b. Abt. 1727 Virginia; d. February 8, 1785 Surry Co., NC. Married Abigail WYCHE (BREWER). Thomas Arnold served as Captain in the Revolutionary War, and was retired and assigned to the "Regiment of Invalids" composed entirely of officers under the command of Colonel Lewis Nicolas until 1783. He was given half pay, commissioned and bounty lands, by Act of Congress Aug. 14, 1776. Abigail Wyche may have been the daughter of Henry Wyche of Brunswick Co., VA (eary 1700’s) and her marriage to Thomas Arnold may have been her second marriage. I find a Henry Wyche who left his will in Brunswick Co., VA naming his daugher "Abigail Brewer", wife of George Brewer, in 1740 very near where the Lunenburg Arnolds lived. Henry Wyche names his sons Henry, William, daughters Abigail Brewer, Rebecca and Elizabeth Wyche, and wife Frances. The Wyche family and Brewer familiy lived on the Beaverpond Creek in Brunswick Co., VA in 1741. Thomas Arnold and his son Samuel are mentioned prominently in the Family Bible of James and Nannie Francis Arnold. Their fundamental information is corroborated by an LDS file for William "Wid" Arnold. The Family Bible information included anecdotal stories and few dates except for James Arnold's immediate family and was not connected with William "Wid" Arnold until the LDS file was found. The bible states that Captain Thomas Arnold served in the "Regiment of Invalids" under the command of Colonel Lewis Nicolas until 1783. This assertion has not yet been independently confirmed. Although the bible is not exactly clear, it appears that neither source mentions any children other than Samuel. The bible seems to mention that Elizabeth Wyche came from a family of eighteen children. 1. Samuel ARNOLD – b. 1749-1749 Spotyslvania Co., VA; d. Before March 17, 1829 Surry Co., NC (src.
