Article: Obituary Title: Funeral services for Mrs. Emily Knourek Source: Esterhazy Miner Journal Weekly Newspaper - Edition June 2, 1971 Reel #15: Saskatchewan Archives, Regina, Saskatchewan Funeral services for the late Mrs. Emily Louise Knourek, 89, Esterhazy was held May 27 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew's United church, Esterhazy Rev. J. Bray officiating. Interment was in the Kolin Cemetery and Theaker Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements. Honorary pallbearers were Laddie Dlouhy, Frank Dlouhy, John Dlouhy,Sr., Gerry Forst, Bill Lomenda, and Laddie Knourek. Active pallbearers were Leonard Knourek, Jack Fiala, Frank Herperger, Richard Fiala and Dennis Dudek. Ushers were Bert Junek and Laddie Dudek. She leaves her passing her husband, Frank of Esterhazy, sons Bill and Frank of Esterhazy, Louis of Stockholm and daughter Bertha (Mrs. Joe Fiala) of Esterhazy. Also 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grand children. She was predeceased by two daughters two sisters and one brother. Born in Czechoslovakia, November 20, 1881 she came to Kolin from Czechoslovakia in 1900. Mrs. Knourek lived in the Esterhazy district most of her life. For a short period of time she lived in the village of Stockholm. She loved music, and her hobbies were embroidery and handicraft. She was a member of the Czech club. A quiet hard working person she was regarded by her family as a wonderful mother and grandmother.
