http://obits.abqjournal.com/obits/print_obit/213726 Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday February 20, 2011 Albert Lavern Maas was born March 25, 1930 on a farm near Charter Oak, Iowa, He went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2011 at the age of 80. Al joined the US Air Force in January 1951 and served as an Air Traffic Controller in Korea, Bermuda, Texas, Vietnam and North Dakota until his retirement in July, 1972. After retiring he and his wife, Yvonne, moved to Glendale, AZ, where he worked as an Electrician. They resided in Arizona until 1975, when they decided to move back to Albuquerque where they had met in 1968. Al worked for the City of Albuquerque as an Electrical Inspector until he retired again in 1994. Al moved from Albuquerque in May 2009, a year after Yvonne passed away, to live in Bastrop, TX to be near his children. Al was preceded in death by his parents; his three sisters; his first wife, Elizabeth Maas-Froman; and his second wife, Emma Yvonne Maas. Al is survived by his children, Michael R. Maas of Lewisville, TX, Vicky Maas Stanley and her husband Steven of Bridge City, TX, Matthew A. Maas and his wife Wanda of Cedar Creek, TX, Mark H. Maas of Ft Worth, Tx; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; three step-children; Amy Raymond of Albuquerque, NM; Bunnie Firestone and her husband Kermit of Tucson, AZ; Kent Navalesi and his wife April of Albuquerque, NM; five stepgrandchildren: Ronald Raymond, Renae Wilson, Audra White, Kent Jr. and Nick Navalesi; six step-great-grandchildren: Colleen Young Bear Mandi Mead, Whitney Wilson, Levi and Cheyenne White; and one step-great- great-grandchild, Devin Young Bear. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 7, 2011 at Marrs - Jones -Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas.
