The Sheboygan Press May 13, 1952 Gustave Brickbauer, 83, well known resident of Elkhart Lake, died early this morning at Plymouth Hospital where he had been confined for two weeks. Born April 1, 1869, in town of Russell, he was the son of George and Eva Brickbauer. He married Dora Beck on May 18, 1895, in the town of Russell at St. Paul's Evangelical Church of which Mr. Brickbauer was a lifelong member. Mr. Brickbauer owned and operated a cheese factory across the road from his farm for 10 years prior to disposing of the farm to their son, Carl, in 1918, when they moved to Elkhart Lake. He held the offices of secretary and treasurer of the Elkhart Lake Canning Company for six years and was president for nine years of the National Cheese Producers' Federation. He also served on the County Board for six terms, the Town of Russell School Board for 12 years. Survivors include the widow; three sons, Carl of Cascade, Dr. Arthur Brickbauer of Plymouth, and Dr Gustave Jr., of Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs. Maurice (Eleanor) Heath of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Arthur (Viola) Neuhaus of Milwaukee; and 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. E. W. Burchardt of Menomonee Falls and Mrs. Albert Kreuter of Green Lake, also survive. One daughter and four brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 o'clock at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church with the Rev. Karl Ernst officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
