Mathias Miller, son of Jacob and Catherine Miller/Mueller, was born in Berks County, PA on October 18, 1743.  He was married 4 times.  First wife was Susana Catherine Miller, born August 15, 1740 and died April 14, 1777.  Susana and Mathias married in 1760. She was the mother of nine children.  She is buried in the Little Tulpehocken Cemetery.  Mathias Miller's second wife was Catherine Aulenbach.  Third wife was Mary Elizabeth (last name unknown).  They died in Pennsylvania.  Dates if births, deaths and number of children are unknown.  Mathias's fourth wife was Mrs. Shaffer, a widow, whose maiden name had been Anna Maria Moyer.  Anna was born in 1753 in Pennsylvania and died in Rockingham County, Virginia in 1815,  Anna is buried at Radar's Church near Timberville, VA.  She was the mother of two children, Michael and Mary (Polly) Miller.  Mathias Miller was the father of 17 children.  The names of all are unknown, but the chronological order and which wife was the mother of each is not known.

The last two children are the only children from Mathias's last wife.
Mathias Miller and family moved from Berks County, PA in 1794 or 1795 to Rockingham County, VA; he died in December 1805.  His last wife, Marie Moyer Shaffer and Mathias are buried at Radar's Church near Timberville, VA.  He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.
