294. Hermann BETZER was born about 1669 in Hachenburg, Palatinate (Germany). "HERMANN BETZER (Hunter Lists #57) The European home of the Hudson Valley Betzer-Pitcher family was 5238 Hachenburg-Altstadr (37 km. n.e. of Koblenz; Chbks. begin 1661.) The earliest known ancestor of the American line was Daniel Bitzer, d. by 1666. Peter Bitzer, s.o the late Daniel Bitzer from Nister, md. 12 Jan 1666 Ann Els, d.o Peter Zimmermann also from Nister. Peter and Ann Els Bitzer had ch.:

Peter Jung, s/o the late Daniel Jung from Hattert on Exaudi 1677. Hermann Bitzer md. an Elsa Maria -----. The many sponsors of the Frantz family to their ch. suggest that she may have been the "child", sponsored by an Elsa Maria, bpt. Jubilate 1666 to Johannes Frantz; Johannes Frantz, s/o Henrich Frantz at O.H., md. Anna Maria, d/o Martin Mu"ller at O.H., 19 Nov 1663 (HJ). Johan Herman Bo"tser, his wife and 8 ch. were in the 6th party at Rotterdam, recorded near an Anna Maria Botser, a Johan Peter Timmermann, and N.Y. 1709ers Johan Diderig Schniter, Johan Klein, Johan Schu, Kristian Meyer, and Hans Jacob Dinges (Rotterdam Lists).
Hermann Betzer made his first appearance on the Hunter Lists 4 July 1710 with 5 pers. over 10 yrs. of age and 2 pers. under 10 yrs. and 1 pers. under 10. He was a soldier in the Canadian expedition of 1711 (Palatine Volunteers to Canada). Harma Betser was nat. 17 Jan 1715/16 (Albany Nats.). Hermann Betzer and Elsen Maria with 3 ch. were at Wormsdorff ca. 1716/17 (Simmendinger Register). He was on Palatine Debtors Lists dated 1718, 1719 (at Annsberry), and 1721 (Livingston Debt Lists). Herman Betzer was a Palatine willing to remain at Livingston Manor 26 Aug 1724 (*Documentary History of N.Y.*, Vol. III, p. 724). He signed a receipt mentioning Pastor Hager 29 July 1722 (Livingston Papers). The ch. of Hermann and Elsa Maria all bpt. Altstadt were:
