Ubbe Reemt Iwwerks was born 13 September 1817 in Uttum, Ost Friesland, Germany. His parents were Reemt Ubben Iwweerks and Foelke Janshen Tholen. He married Maike Eerts Van Juchum in 1841. They had eight children. The family immigrated to America in about 1869 and settled in South Dakota. Descendants and relatives lived in South Dakota, Minnesota, Missouri, Connecticut, Washington and elsewhere.

Includes DeVries, Engelkes, Middendorf and related families.
