Registers of lighthouse keepers 1845-1912 : National Archives microfilm publications M1373
Notes
"The 19 volumes of registers are filmed in geographic order by 5 regions: New England; New York through Virginia; North Carolina through Texas; Great Lakes; and West Coast, Alaska, and Hawaii. The registers were compiled chronologically. Their content varies; earlier registers include all or several geographic regions. Indexes to each of the volumes are alphabetical by surname of keeper and/or name of lighthouse and were filmed in their entirety each time a volume or part of a volume was filmed. The indexes will, therefore, include many names of keepers and lighthouses that are not found on a particular roll of film. The registers are part of Record Group 26, Records of the United States Coast Guard...." -- P. [1].
Includes index.
Lists name of lighthouse, name of superintendant, name of keeper, salary, date appointed, place of birth, dates of vacation and where he went.
The library has only the records for New England.

- The microfilm may be scheduled for future scanning.
- The microfilm may have been scanned, but have a contractual, data privacy, or other restriction preventing access. FamilySearch makes every effort to enable access dependent on decisions of record custodians and applicable laws.
