Oren Fogg was born a Exeter, New Hampshire, in 1794, probably the son of Stephen and Nancy Batchelder Fogg. He served as a volunteer in the War of 1812. He married Mary Jane Abbott at Sandwich, New Hampshire, 23 Feb. 1826. They had four sons and a daughter. He died at Deerfield, New Hampshire, 12 June 1853. Descendants lived in New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Michigan and elsewhere. Frank Merrill Fogg (1854-1916), a great grandson, established the Ingham County, Michigan, branch of the family in 1882, when he purchased and interest in a Lansing, Michigan, newspaper and moved to Ingham County, with his family, from Maine.
