David Geringer (ca. 1735-1812) and his wife, Anna Barbara (d. 1814), migrated from Frederick County, Maryland, to Berkeley County, Virginia (now West Virginia), in 1793. They were the parents of at least seven children. They died in Berkeley County. Descendants listed lived in West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, and elsewhere. Descendants spelled their surname, Garinger, Garringer, Geringer, Gerringer, and other variant spellings.

Includes the Culp and other related families.

David Gerringer (ca. 1772-1865), the oldest son of David and Barbara Geringer, was born in Frederick County, Maryland, and migrated to Berkely County, Virginia, in 1793. He married Elizabeth Smith (1775-1848), probably the daughter of Alexander Smith, in 1795 in Berkeley County. They had six children, 1796-1812. The family migrated to Fairfield County, Ohio, ca. 1806, and to Fayette County, Ohio, ca. 1816. Descendants listed lived in Ohio, Indiana, and elsewhere.

David Garinger (1802-1869), the third son of David and Elizabeth Gerringer, was born in Berkeley County, Virginia. He married Cyrene Yeoman (1806-1888), daughter of James and Sarah Bates Yeoman, in Fayette County, Ohio, in 1825. They had nine children, 1826-1848. David and Cyrene Garinger died in Fayette County, Ohio. Descendants lived in Ohio and elsewhere.
