Notes

John Bird (1836-1908), son of Thomas Butler Bird and Mary (Polly) Williams, was born in Holmes Co., Ohio, and died in Hill City, Graham Co., Kansas. He married Rachel Pritchard (1839-1907), daughter of John Pritchard, Jr. and Jemima Harrod, in 1859. She was born in New Castle, Ohio. They were parents of seven children born in DeKalb Co., Missouri. Thomas Bird (ca. 1765/70-1835), the progenitor of this family, was born in either New Jersey or Virginia. The earliest available records for Thomas Bird appear in the Monongalia County, Virginia Personal Tax Lists from 1790 through 1811. Thomas Bird married three times: (1) Sarah Butler, daughter of Thomas and Rebecca Dougherty Butler; (2) in Holmes Co., Ohio in 1827, Harriet Burrow or Burrowes; (3) 1834 Margaret Forgason. Descendants and family members live in Kansas, Missouri and elsewhere.
