Basil Prather was born in Prince George County, Maryland, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Prather. He moved to Louisville and married Fanny Meriwether in 1789. Descendants lived in Kentucky, California, Tennessee, and elsewhere. He was a descendant of Jonathan Prather who immigrated in 1658 to America. Includes other Prather families in the area.
