Microfilm of typescript (5 leaves) in possession of Mrs. Tommie Hood, Sandersville, Georgia.

With: Hood family Bible records, ca. 1874-1955.

Col. Robert Rutherford (1734-1816) was born in Nattawy County, Virginia. He married Dorothy Ann Brooks. They had twelve children. The family lived in Chathan County, North Carolina. He was a colonal under the Council of Safety in the Revolutiony War. He died at Newberry, South Carolina. Children lived in South Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia. His daughter, Mary Rutherford (b. 1758), married Thomas Mathis (b. 1756) and migrated to Hancock County, Georgia. They had nine children. Their son, John Rutherford Mathis, married Priscilla Dupree in Washington County, Georgia. They had eight children. He was a physician and practiced medicine in Washington County, Georgia. Their daughter, Elizabeth Nance Mathis (1815-1894), married James Hughes Gilmore (1807-1877) in 1852. They had thirteen children, 1833-1853.

Includes some information about the Gilmore family, taken from "A Genealogical history of Iris [sic] families" by John Rooney and supplied by Annabel Gilmore Jordan. Gives information on origin of family.
