Births, stillbirths, and delayed registration with indexes, 1869-1912

Delayed registrations that have six digit numbers assigned beginning with "50" are registrations that occurred after late 1945 or early 1946. Delayed registrations that have six digit numbers assigned beginning with "90" are registrations that occurred more than a year after the event but before late 1945 or early 1946.

If the registration number is between 201001 and 399999, the registration will be found in the year the birth was registered, not the year it occurred. Remove the first digit (the "2" or "3" from the registration number and look under the number within the year it was registered in the registration books.

Birth registrations are generally filed by year of registration, but a few are filed by year of birth.

Some films have overlapping information.

Index includes name, place and date of birth, registration number and year of registration.

Index is arranged by first letter of surname, then by year with a separate index for each year with some early years being combined together.
