Chiefly ancestors and relatives of Jay Cook Grimes, the author of this book. Jay Cook Grimes, son of William Henry and Nancy Elizabeth Cook Grimes, was born 20 February, 1890 in Wayne County, Tennessee. On 4 August 1924 he married Charlotte Ella Busey, daughter of " ... Dr. John Francis and Ella (Lowery) Busey, of Frisco City, Alabama."--P. 29. Ancestor Wilson Grimes (1801-1866) married Rachel Car in 1822, and in 1826 moved from Maury County to Wayne County, Tennessee. Descendants and relatives lived in Tennessee, Florida, New York, Illinois, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and elsewhere. Lists earlier Grimes individuals (including immigrants) in Virginia, the Carolinas and Georgia, since these might possibly be ancestry of Wilson.
