This set of records is a combination of records from individual courts under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Lichfield. The diocese included areas outside of Staffordshire. The records were combined by the diocese.

The 22 courts included in the set and the localities covered by each court are listed below. ROYAL PECULIAR COURT OF WOLVERHAMPTON: Staffordshire - Bentley, Bilston, Bushbury, Hatherton, Hilton, Knivaston, Pelsall, Wolverhampton, Willenhall, and Wednesfield.

The wills, administrations and inventories are interfiled. They are filed in order of the first letter of the surname within each year.

A manuscript calendar to the wills, administrations and inventories was prepared before the records were filmed. It is arranged by first letter of the surname, then by year, then alphabetically within each year.

This calendar includes entries for the Manor of Knowle in Warwickshire. However, the original wills are not in this set.
