William John Sheehand (1808-1873) immigrated about 1830/1833 from Ireland to Carthage, Ohio, working on the canals being built between the Ohio River and Lake Erie. He married Mary Patton in Cincinnati, Ohio, and eventually settled in Richland (later Ashland) County, Ohio. Descendants (chiefly spelling the surname Sheehan) and relatives lived in Ohio, Pennsylvania and elsewhere. Includes ancestors of the author in Ireland, Germany, Switzerland and elsewhere.

Includes index (listing both Sheehan and Sheehand).

Approximatly covers the years 1808-1972.

Includes listing of "causes of ancestral deaths" in various counties in Ohio and Pennsylvania, as well as other comparative data about the ancestors (life span, marriage length, age difference between husband and wife, widow/widower survival time, physical traits, etc.).

Includes Buhner, Flick, Freeze, Kelley, Schreiner, Zehe and related families.
