June Rayfield Welch was born 24 November 1927 in Brownwood, Texas. His parents were Frank Albert Welch and Elzina Prigmore. He married Ethel June Curtis, daughter of Roy Curtis and Ethel Pearce, in 1948. They had two children, Ransom and Susan. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ohio and Virginia.

Ephraim Welch (b.1807), a son of Ephraim, moved from North Carolina to Bledsoe County, Tennessee, and was probably the father of Robert Welch (1829-1902) and Isaac Denton Welch (1830-1884). Robert married Mary Jane Smith and moved to Clinton County, Kentucky. Isaac married Sarah Am Pierce, and moved (via Kentucky, Illinois and Oklahoma) to land near Wynnewood, Texas about 1883. Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, California and elsewhere.
