Microfilm of original records at the Westmoreland County Courthouse in Montross, Virginia.

Early bonds and licenses were issued by the County Court or the county clerk. Returns, consents, and later bonds and licenses were issued or recorded with the clerk of the County Court.

Arranged in chronological order by year. Contains loose marriage bonds, parental consents, licenses, certificates to obtain a license, and ministers' returns. Information varies on the different documents.

Marriage bonds give names of parties, amount and date of the bond, names of sureties, etc. Ministers' returns give names of the parties to be married, date and place of marriage, and who performed the marriage. Marriage licenses give name of who issued the license, date issued, names of bride and groom, ages, marital status, birthplaces, parents' names, husband's occupation, residences, date and place of marriage, date of license, and who performed the marriage.
