August Andreas Machtloff was born 1 August 1830 in Montabaur, Germany. His parents were Johann Andreas Machtloff (1801-1841) and Dorothea Kratz (1808-1849). He emigrated with his mother in 1849. He married Anna Meyer (1826-1894) 3 August 1851 in Louisville, Kentucky. They had seven children. August died 15 September 1894. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Germany, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and California.
