Work is focused on the Bryans of old Edgefield District, South Carolina. Robert Bryan (died 1782) was one of the Bryans living there at that time. He received a land grant in Edgefield District in 1765. In a later generation, Robert Bryan, Sr. (1784-ca. 1869) married Martha Dean. Their descendants lived in South Carolina and elsewhere.
