Samuel Thomas Tillery was born in 1848 in Meigs County, Tennessee. His father was Jacob Tillery. He served in the Confederate Army in the Civil War. He married Tennessee Rinehart 1 August 1866 in Decatur, Tennessee. They had fourteen children, nine of whom survived to adulthood. Tennessee died in 1889. Samuel married Margaret Jane Crownover 31 October 1889. They had fourteen children, six of whom lived to adulthood. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Tennessee, Missouri and Arkansas.
