"The cards are arranged by branch of service, thereunder by the category and hereunder alphabetical by surname as follows: (1) Army -- by enlisted personnel, officers and nurses and then by deceased officers and enlisted personnel -- (2) Navy -- with officers and enlisted personnel in one alphabetical sequence and then by deceased officers and enlisted personnel. The deceased category refers only to those individuals who died while in the service."

Contents: Each card contains the following information: 1. Full name -- 2. Service or serial number -- 3. Race (Army only) -- 4. Full address -- 5. Place of enlistment or induction -- 6. Place of birth -- 7. Age (in years and fractions of years) -- 8. Service organization -- 9. Grades -- 10. Engagements -- 11. Wounds -- 12. Overseas service -- 13. Date of honorable discharge -- 14. Report of disability and percentage thereof, if applicable.
