A ticket of leave was permission for convicts to employ themselves and acquire property as long as they stayed within the assigned district.

This index includes the name of the convict, the ship and year of deportation, ticket number, and reference to the original records at the Archives Office of New South Wales. Original records located at the Archives of New South Wales can include the following information: ticket number, name, ship and year of arrival, where and when convicted, term, native place, calling, year of birth, physical description, date of ticket, district, and general remarks.
