Dear Terresita and Jorge
I have attached to this file what Edward said at her memorial service. She had a massive stroke with bleeding in her head. Fred called us about 7PM December 26. He had been sleeping in his room and found her on the floor unconscious. We called 911 and they took her to the hospital and from tests, they determined she had bleeding in her head. She never regained consciousness and died on Dec. 31.
This has been very hard on Fred. He keeps saying he wants to go where she is. He is very weak. He still has his memory. 2 nights ago he said he dreamed he was dying and said it felt so good. We keep telling him he must have more to do on this earth. He is still interested in genealogy.

Herta Kullick funeral
I was going to ask my daughter Chritine to read this because I wasn’t sure I could get through this. But it realy is a snap shot of Herta as I knew her.
Herta Klara Kullick was born in Heidgraben Germany on May 8 , 1909. The only daughter with 3 brothers. Frederick was the oldest and Eds Father Jacob was the 2nd son. They didn’t have much in the way of worldly goods, times were tough.
Herta tells of 2 experiences she had as a child. A friend of the family gave her an orange which she had never seen before. She kept that in her room and just looked at it until it was no longer good to eat.
Another story was she took her shoes off and was playing in a field with her brothers. When it was time to go home she could not find her 1 shoe. She and her brothers looked but finally had to give up and go home. She was afraid to tell her Mother because that was the only pair of shoes she had.
She said a prayer and during the night, she had a dream exactly where it was.. She told her brothers, that she knew where it was, they didn’t believe her, but went with her anyway the next dayt to look.. Herta went right to the place where her shoe was.
Her Grandmother was Luisa Kulessa, who was the Mother of 12 children, who, after her husband died came to live with one of her daughters. Hertas Mother and her children, which included Fred, Jack & Herta, also went to live with the same sister because her hudband was also in the 1st World War. The sister had a farm and needed help on the farm FRED REMEMBERS his Grandmother rocking a baby and singing church songs. She was very religious. One night she had a dream about a beautiful place. She wanted to go there but was told she couldn’t go there yet, but that thru 2 of her children she would be able to go there, And that the true church would come from America. (The two children were Ana and Ernst Biebersdorf, hertas mother and uncle)
Hertas Mother had a friend who told her things were better in Argentina so she determined she would go there. So they sold their house and bought passage on a boat to Argentina.
It was not a very pleasant trip on the boat. It took 23 days because it stopped often and they were sick most of the way. They were in Stearage class.
Shortly after arriving in Buenos Aires Hertas Uncle Ernst Biebersdorf was working in a factory and met 2 men who were members of the Mormon Church. They told them about Joseph Smith and the church. When uncle Ernst told Herta’s Mother remembered the dream and was very interested. The 2 men wrote to Salt Lake requesting Missionaries because South America had not been opened for the preaching of the Gospel. They said there were people in Buenos Aires who wanted baptism.. Some of those people were Herta and her Mother and Father.
The Prophet sent Appostle Melvin J. Ballard plus 2 others to open the mission. Herta’s Father and Mother and Herta were the first converts to be baptized.in South America in the river La Plata. Brother Ballard writes in his book. (read from book). This was a fulfillment of the dream her Grand Mother had,
After joining the church some other missionaries told them life was better in the United States so they sold everything and came to New York.all except for the youngest son Ernst, who stayed in Buenos Aires Argentina..
Hertas parents bought a farm in Upstate New York but the 3 children stayed in New York City.. The older 2 boys married so Herta lived in kind of a bording house where she met Hans Schoeck who she said, would not leave her alone. So she agreed to marry him which she says was a mistake. He was not a kind husband so she had a rather tough life. She often thought of leaving him but I remember her saying I married him for better or worse, so she endured the abuse.
Fred was always very good to her and helped her thru the rough times. They have been very close all the years they lived in New York. Herta helped Fred during his trial when he lost his only son at age 35 and his wife shortly thereafter to cancer. I remember seeing him at that time. She would go and prepare a Sunday dinner every week at his house.
Hertas husband developed Alzheimer’s which was very hard on Herta who took care of him.
When he passed away in 2000 we decided to bring them to California where we could look after them.
We took them for a vacation to Hawaii, which was a real treat for them.
She never complained even when her hip hurt her, that she had replaced. She always said I can manage.
Audrey and I will miss her. She taught us more in life than we could ever repay her in service.. We look forward to doing her temple work and sealing her to her parents.
Fred, her brother was supposed to go first but nothing goes according to what we want, because our reasons are different than the Lords.
I want to thank those of you who have offered help in prayers and deed.
You have been wonderful.
I have only one bit of advice to you that I have learned through this experince and that is to love those of your family and friends for we know not what tomorow holds and now is the time show it. And you will have no regrets tomorrow.
