All the will books came from the County Court, except for will book, v. 4, 2A and part of v. 13. Their information came from the Superior and Circuit courts. The fiduciary settlements came from the Circuit Court.

The Superior Court of Law existed from 1808 to 1831 when it was replaced by the Circuit Superior Court of Law and Chancery. In 1850 the Circuit Superior Court of Law and Chancery was replaced by the Circuit Court. The Circuit Court took over the duties of the County Court when that court was abolished in 1904.

Fiduciaries are people who hold monies in trust for other people, often in connection with a deceased person's estate. These volumes contain their reports to the court about the settlements of these trusts.

Will books contains wills, inventories and appraisements, sale bills, settlement of accounts, trust deeds, sheriffis bonds, and other probate documents.

Includes general indexes which give date recorded, kind of document, names of devisor and devisee, where recorded (book and page), area and location. (General indexes index v. 2-15 (includes several entries for v. 16, 1930-1932), 2a, 4a, and settlements v. 1). Will books v. 2-7, 2a, 4a and the settlements v. 1-2 are also individually indexed.
