The Akron Register Tribune; Akron, Plymouth County, Iowa, USA; Thursday, August 13, 1987; Volume 101, Number 9, Page 3-A Scott Spencer Swift, 38, Waterloo, an Akron native and former Sioux City resident, died Saturday (Aug. 8, 1987) at the University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa, after a lengthy illness. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walnut Ridge Baptist church in Waterloo. Services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, .Aug. 12 at Central Baptist church in Sioux City. Rev. Mark Bubeck officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery in Akron under direction of Schroeder funeral home. Pallbearers were Gary Tucker, Bob Brown, Clark Van Donge, Russ Van Beek, Rich Brown and Larry Brown. Mr. Swift was born Aug. 23, 1948 to Hugh "Barney" and Virginia Swift in Akron. He graduated in 1966 from the Akron Community high school, and received his degree in electrical engineering from South Dakota State University, Brookings. He was employed as an electrical engineer by Iowa Public Service Co., in Sioux City, Humboldt and Waterloo. He married Beverly Van Donge Jan. 24, 1970 in Ireton, Iowa. He was a member of Central Baptist church in Sioux City. Survivors include his wife, Beverly; a son, Michael Scott; and a daughter, Jennifer Rae, both at home; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Swift of Tombstone, Ariz.
