WICHITA — Maxine L. Judson Rupp Burnsworth Grimes, 92, of Wichita, passed away Sept. 11, 2013, at her home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Winfield. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are to the Susan G. Koman Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at ***************************. Maxine was born April 7, 1921, on a ranch near Wellsford, to A.A. and Louise (Lindeman) Judson. She was raised and received her early education in Pratt, Kan. until the family moved to Winfield. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1939. Maxine married Marvin Rupp in 1941. The family made their home and began their family in Winfield. In 1944 Marvin gave his life serving his country in World War II. In 1950 she married Clyde C. Burnsworth in Ft. Wayne, Ind. The couple made their home in Winfield where Maxine was a homemaker, staying home to raise their family. In 1963 the couple divorced and Maxine moved to Wichita, where she began working at Innes as an interior designer. In 1968 she began her own interior decorating business, “Maxine’s Interiors.” Maxine married William M. Grimes in 1972. They remained in Wichita and she continued to run Maxine’s Interiors until 1976, when they retired and moved to California to be near her son. While on vacation to Oregon they fell in love with the area and decided to make it their home. Mr. Grimes preceded her in death in 1993. In 1999 she moved to Tucson, Ariz. due to health concerns. She remained there until 2011 when she returned to Wichita to be near family. She enjoyed golf and entertaining friends and family. In addition to her parents and husbands, Maxine was preceded in death by her sister, Vera Johnson; brothers, Lorin, Gilbert, and Leroy Judson; and granddaughter, Jodi A. Burnsworth. Survivors include her sons, Marion Burnsworth, Cambridge, Linden Burnsworth, Theodosia, Mo., and Kim C. Burnsworth, Santa Monica, Calif.; daughter, Kris C. Doyle and husband, Danny, Wichita; grandchildren, Joseph Henry and Jeffrey Henry, both of Central Point, Ore., Amy K. Charboneau and husband, Matt, Wichita, and Halli A. Burnsworth, Glenwood Springs, Colo.; and great-grandchildren, Matthew Owen Charboneau, Sloan Jacob Charboneau, Hanna Charboneau, Madison Henry and Isaac Burnsworth.
