WEDDING: Beaver Dam Argus, Thursday, June 17, 1926, page 5. St. Jerome's Catholic Church at Columbus was the scene of a beautiful wedding when Miss Adela Alberta Arnold became the bride of Mr. Bernard Frank Hammer on Tuesday morning, June 15th, at nine o'clock. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Thomas Myles. The church was beautifully decorated with vases of June flowers upon the altar, while soft green foliage plants formed the background in the chancel. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore an exquisite gown of white georgette, which was trimmed with rhinestones and crystal beads. Her veil was caught in coronet effects with rhinestone brilliants. Her bouquet was of roses and swansonias. Miss Isabelle Hammer, who attended the bride as maid of honor, wore pink georgette over satin and had an arm bouquet similar to that of the bride. Two small nieces of the groom, the little Misses Gene Cigelski and Marie Hammer, and two small cousins of the bride, Marie Dillman and Irene Heidt, attended the bride as flower girls and wore frocks of pink and white and trimmed with insets of lace. They carried small bouquets of pink and white snapdragons mingled with swansonias and candytuft. Little Stanley Hammer, who acted as ring bearer, wore a suit of white and carried a pink heart-shaped pillow upon which the rings were carried. As the bridal procession entered the church, Mr. Edward O. Reinert sang, "Oh Promise Me." Throughout the mass hymns were sung by Mr. Reinert and Mrs. Charles Moreth, an aunt of the bride. As the marriage was being performed, Miss Helen Crombie played soft strains of "Morning." The beautiful selection from "Carmen" was played as the wedding group made their way down the aisle of the church. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The bridal party stood in front of a bank of soft green foliage. Large bunches of peonies were placed in bowls and vases about the rooms. The color scheme throughout was pink and white. The bride is a graduate of Columbus High school of the class of '22 and also a graduate of the Columbia County Normal School. For the past few years she has successfully taught in the rural schools of the vicinity. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Sebastian Hammer of Beaver Dam and served in the World War, being in active service across for nine months. After the wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Hammer will be at home to their friends after July 1st at 204 East Third street, Beaver Dam, - Columbus Democrat. -
