  • During our trip to Hamilton, Montana in 1961 Bill recounted some of his military service.

While sitting the dinner table, Uncle Bill, dad (Gene), and Don Pantone (dad's cousin) started talking about their military service days. Bill told us he was in the U.S. Army Medical Corp. and served as an X-RAY technician and that is where he met his future wife, Eleanor (my aunt) while she was employed at the Military hospital in Oakland, California.

My dad told us of his service in the U.S. Marine Corp., while 2nd cousin, Don Pantone told of his exploits in the Merchant Marines, ending up in the U.S. Air Force shortly after the mandatory draft ended.

Uncle Bill also talked about his tenure at the U. S. Forest Service and how hard the work was, but that he loved it because he so enjoyed working outdoors.

Narrated by Bruce C. Hartman, nephew of Bill and Eleanor Albert
