Nota

The commissioner of the revenue registered births and deaths for the county and then turned his books over to the clerk of the County Court. The clerk made abstracts to send to the state auditor and would also preserve the books in his office. The marriage records were recorded with the clerk of the court or the county clerk.

The register of births gives date of birth, name of child, sex, race (if before 1864 and "colored", whether slave or free), if born alive or dead, birthplace, fathers name (if before 1864, slave owner's name), father's occupation and residence, mothers name, how many born at the birth, deformity or any circumstances of interest, sources of information and relationship of informant to person born. Information is not always complete. Register may be missing 1863.

Gives line number, date and place of marriage, full name of the parties (husband and wife), age, marital condition (single, widowed, divorced), birthplaces, residences, parents names, husbands occupation, name of person performing marriage ceremony, and remarks. Information is not always complete.

The register of deaths gives the name of the deceased, race (if "colored" and before 1864, whether slave or free), name of slave owner before 1864, sex, death date and place, cause of death, age, parents' names, birthplace, occupation, name of spouse or if unmarried, sources of information and relationship of informant to deceased. Information is not always complete.

These licenses were issued by the county clerk to allow the marriage by an authorized minister and give the date the license was issued, names of parties, residences, and name of person issuing the license.

Includes general index, which is divided into three sections: Index to register of births (gives name of child, birth date (last date given is 1867), page number, parents' names); Index to register of marriages (gives names of males and females, page (last p. given is 30)); Index to register of deaths (gives deceased name, death date (last date given is 1867), page).
