The funeral service for F. Wayne Schaunaman, 84, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Aberdeen, will be 10:00am, Friday, July 15, 2011 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, with Father Kevin O'Dell officiating. Military honors will be provided by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post 24. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park, Aberdeen.
Wayne died Tuesday, July 12, at VA Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD.
Frederick Wayne Schaunaman was born April 19, 1927 in Aberdeen, SD to Wm John and Minnie (Manning) Schaunaman. He entered the Army in 1945 and served in the infantry and field artillery until being honorably discharged in 1947. Wayne married Mary Louise Marlow, Sept. 11, 1949. They had two sons Brian Lee and Kim Wayne. Wayne went to work for JP Foster Caterpillar Dealer in 1955 in Aberdeen and transferred to Pierre in 1965. He continued to work there as the company changed names to Foster Bell Co. and later Kearn's Machinery Co., until retiring in 1983.
Wayne enjoyed camping and travelling. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared his life are his two sons, Brian Lee (Susan), Sioux Falls, SD, and Kim Wayne (Terri), Sergeant Bluff, IA, six grandchildren, Matthew (Rebecca) Schaunaman, Kurt (Lena) Schaunaman, Katie Schaunaman, Troy (Brittney Kruger) Schaunaman, Amanda (Todd Bauerly) Schaunaman and Sarah Schaunaman, 13 great grandchildren, Tanner, Kaitlyn, Kyla, Connor, Olivia, Wayne, Brianna, Brooklyn, Audrina, Tyson, Sophie, Talyn, and the family is expecting a new addition this fall, two sisters, Violet Knudson, Fresno, CA and Lois (Leo) Rystrom, Frederick, SD and one brother Bill (Evelyn), Aberdeen.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise, his parents, two brothers Roy and Elmer, and two sisters Betty Ross and Jean Lueck.
