Articles of Agreement
whereas I Jane Hartman, widow of George Hartman late a private and Company (C), of the regiment of Volunteers war of 1812, having made application for pension under the laws of the United States: done in the premises, I hereby agree to allow my agent Charles E. Milroy, of Lafayette, Indiana., The fee of $25, which shall include all amounts to be paid for any services in the furtherance of said claim; and said fee shall not be demanded by or payable to my said agent, in whole or in part, except in case of the granting of my pension by the Commissioner of pensions; and that the same shall be paid to him in accordance with the provisions of section 4768 and 4769 of the revised statutes, U. S.

be it known, that on this, the 31 day of July, A. D., 1884 personally have read over to her in the hearing and presence of the two attesting witnesses. The contents of the foregoing articles of agreement, voluntarily signed and acknowledged the same to be her free act and deed.
And now, to wit, this 1st day of August A. D. 1884 I Charles Milroy accept the provisions contained in the foregoing articles of agreement, and will, to the best of my ability, endeavor faithfully to represent the interest of the claimant in the premises, I hereby certify that I have received from the claimant above named the sum of ------ dollars, and no more------ dollars being for fee, the sum of ----being for postage and other expenses. And that those agreements have been executed in duplicate without additional cost to the claimant, as required by law, in excess of the fee above named, the said agents making no charge. Therefore.
