Charles V. Imlay, 70 years of age, died 28 Nov 1956.

He was senior partner in the law firm of Imlay and Hospidor in Washington D. C. He was widely known in legal circles.

A specialist in the probate and trust fields. Mr. Imlay had been a member of the District bar since 1916. He was organizer, dean and teacher at Southeastern Law School in D.C. from 1920 to 1930 and for much of that same period was professor of law at Howard University.

Charles was born in Baltimore, as one of 21 children of a volunteer in the Union Army in the Civil War. He came to Washington with his family as a boy and was a graduate of Western High School where he had a straight A record.

He won a scholarship to Harvard College from which he graduated in 1908. and went to Harvard Law School where he completed his work in 1910.

His wife Nelle Hudson Imlay, who died two years before him, taught piano and was a former music teacher at Stephens Colege in Columbia, Mo.

Mr. Imlay was a member of the bar admissions committee of District Court from 1919 to 1935 and was a life commissioner of the Uniform State Laws group of the American Bar Association. He also was a member of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws.

He was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court and wrote articles for the American and District Bar Associations. He also served as a director of the District Bar Association. Mr. Imlay had been a member of the American Law Institute since 1923.

He belonged to the Knights of the Round Table, the Harvard Club of Washington, the Torch Club and the Cosmos Club.

He was a leader in the Chevy Chase Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many Years.

Surviving are a son, Carl H. of Olney, MD, a daughter, Mrs. Felix T. Cotton. of Chevy Chase, a brother, Oscar L. and a half-brother, George W. Imlay of Arlington.

Services were held at B. H. Hines Funeral parlor. Burial took place at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
