SMITHVILLE - William Clarence Gosa, 87, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a long illness. He was born Feb. 17, 1916, in Sulligent, Ala., to the late Sam and Nancy Tez Brown Gosa. He lived in Smithville for many years. He married Alma Mae Moorman on June 22, 1940; she died in 1969. He was a farmer and a machine operator for Walker Manufacturing until his retirement. He was a Mason and a member of Smithville Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Hoyt Hathcock and the Rev. Mac Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Lovejoy Cemetery in Lamar County, Ala.
Survivors include four sons, James Paul and Jean Gosa of Dallas, Texas, Jerry Gosa and Bobby Gosa, both of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Bennie and Linda Gosa of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter, Peggy and Billy Lochridge of Smithville; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Tommy Wayne Gosa; a brother; six sisters; and a grandson, Jimmy Dale Gosa.
Pallbearers will be John Carithers, Jerry Pierce, B.W. Ausborn, Randle Gray, Jerry Tipton and Billy Branham.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today and until service time Sunday.
