George was a well-known book seller, and apprentice to Catharine's uncle, Henry Fetherstone. The Wineteers, part of their story : in New York, Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, South Dakota, Nebraska ...

"According to an old hand-written history of the family ... our Moses "Winters" was born in Fishkill, New York in 1728, but we have no proof of this. When he was 19 years old, Moses married Elizabeth Williams, 17 years old. Both were orphans ... Probably in the early 1780's, Moses and Elizabeth moved to Montgomery County, Virginia and settled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This history also tells us that Moses "Winters" became a "merchant and large land holder and farmer" in Virginia. ... No death date or place of burial for Elizabeth Winters have been found ... Moses Winters died in 1822 at the age of 94 while living with his son Obadiah in Ohio."--P.2-3. Descendants lived in Virginia, Illinois, California, Idaho, Arkansas, Washington, South Dakota, Ohio, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, Michigan, Wyoming, Oregon, Indiana
