Genealogy of the Sarge(a)nt family : descendants of William, of Malden, Mass.

William Sargent (d.1682) emigrated from England to Massachusetts in 1638. He settled at Charlestown, Mass. Later, he and his wife Sarah settled at Barnstable. He left his property to his two sons, John and Samuel Sargent, to two daughters, Hannah Felch and Ruth Bourne and his wife Sarah. Another daughter Elizabeth Bill died in 1657/8. His son John (b.1639) married (1)Deborah Hyllier, daughter of Hugh Hyllier of Barnstable; (2) Mary Bense; and (3) Lydia Chipman, daughter of John Chipman of Barnstable. John was the father of fifteen children. Several generations of descendants are given.
