One ancestor was the Englishman, John Gore (d. 1657), who left England in 1635 with his wife, Rhoda and their two children. They settled in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Another English ancestor, John Gore and his wife, Margaret settled in Lancaster County, Virginia in 1653. In the 1600-1700s, Gores immigrated to Australia, Canada, and to Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia. During the 1800s, some moved to Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, the Kiowa Comanche Indian Territory, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, the Indian Territory of Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin. Later descendants and relatives also lived in Alberta (Canada), and in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Washington D.C., and elsewhere.
