Le Brun : a compilation of the descendants of Julius "Jules" Brown Jr., an immigrant from Ireland to America : and the following related families: Calhoun, Hair, Jackson, Lassater, Ledbetter, Mc Kenzie, Mc Neely, Pruitt, Summerlin, Thornhill

Julius "Jules" Brown, Jr. was probably born in County Armagh, Ireland, between 1790 and 1800, perhaps the son of Julius Brown. He immigrated to America and settled first in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He later migrated to Abbeville District, South Carolina. He and his wife, Molly Buchanan, had several children. Their son, George Mc Duffie Brown (1820-1899), ws born in Abbeville district. He marred Martha Mariah Calhoun (1831-1895), daughter of John Ewing and Sarah Speed Calhoun, in 1849 in Abbeville County, South Carolina. They had eight children, 1853-1873. The family migrated to Spring Place, Murray County, Georgia, ca. 1856 and to Texas in 1879. George and Martha Brown are buried in the Bethel Cemetery, Franklin County, Texas. Record chiefly follows line of descent to the author, Kenneth Bryson Brown and his family. He was born in 1934 at Plainview, Hale County, Texas, the son of George Bryson Brown (1912-1954) and Pauline Amerilia Thronill Brown (b. 1915). He married Naomi Louis Nisewanger in 1952 at Oakland, California. They had a son born in 1954. They were divorced in 1959. He married 2) Lea Joyce Schulze. They moved to Sacramento, California and adopted two children, born 1962-1966.
