Chiefly ancestral families and family of the author's parents, George Duvall and Sally Louise Richardson Carter. George Duvall Carter was born in 1899 at Cayce, Fulton County, Kentucky, the son of Joseph Henry Carter (1856-1937) and Lena Virginia Johnson Carter (1866-1903). He married Sally Louise Richardson in 1920 at Cypert, Phillips County, Arkansas. They had five children, 1921-1930. He died in 1991 at Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Sally Louis Richardson was born in 1899 at Cypert, Arkansas, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Richardson (1861-1900) and Sara Caroline Carey Richardson (1868- 1947). She died in 1974 at Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Ancestors include: Joseph Carter (b. ca. 1695) of Cheshire, England, and Chester County, Pennsylvania; William Thompson (1720-1772) of Surry County, Virginia, and Chatham County, North Carolina; William Smith Johnson (1767-1852) of Virginia and Cayce, Kentucky; William Richardson (ca. 1825-1872) of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Mississippi; William Lomax (ca. 1700-ca. 1772) of England and Rockingham County, North Carolina; William C. Carey (ca. 1781-1859) of Delaware and Carlisle County, Kentucky; and Phillip Roman (d. 1729) of England and Pennsylvania.

Includes Carter, Johnson, Thompson, Knight and ralated families.
